Patriots Win at Tip-Off Classic
We worked hard and pushed hard during a long fall conditioning period to make sure we were at this point in November. To kick off the 2011-2012 season, the Lady Patriots took their game north to West Palm Beach to take on two solid teams in Jupiter High and Palm Beach Lakes HS. The opening night versus Jupiter was a great feeling for the squad. We were able to get on the court and experience playing together officially for the first time. From the start, the girls dominated with a tenacious defense and control of the boards to take a double-digit lead into the half. The Patriot never trailed, taking the game 60-38. Our second night was a true testament to our mental and physical toughness. We matched up versus a strong and gritty PB Lakes team, and it was a hard-nosed fight till the end. We took the second game with a final score of 53-40. This was a great test for us in Preseason and we have so much more to improve on! Looking forward to it. -Coach K

Moncrief Named to Preseason Fab Five Team
For the first time in her career, Moncrief has been named a 2011 Preseason Fab Five for the Sun-Sentinel. Raigyne looks to help lead us to another successful season, while looking to improve on last year's regional semifinal appearance. With the addition of Symone Bullard, Arkeba Johnson, and the low-post presence of Teague, Burns, and Spicy, Moncrief should have plenty of options around her to make for an exciting year! I cannot wait to see what this young lady and this TEAM can do for the Patriots this season!-Coach K

Teague Signs National Letter of Intent!
For the fourth year in a row, the American Heritage program has signed another player to a Division I school. Brandi Teague, a 6'3 Senior, signed her National Letter of Intent to play next year at Villanova University in Philadephia, PA. I was extremely happy to share this moment with Brandi and her parents. James and Tina. Brandi came into our program as a tall and skinny sophomore, and has done nothing but improve into a tremendous inside and outside threat. I was truly proud to stand by her side as she signed her letter today and enters into a bright future in basketball and beyond! Congratulations Brandi and family!!-Coach K

Fall League Update
Fall league is off to a roaring start for the Lady Patriots this September/October season. We only play once a week, but the growth and progression is definitely there and evident to me as a coach and to the girls. The group of young ladies that I have this season are something special. The chemistry is above and beyond, and it seems like it has transferred onto the court as well. A three point loss to defending state champs Hollywood Christian in Week 1 and solid wins versus North Broward Prep and Cypress Bay has given the girls some confidence in the abilities we have as a team right now. It has also given us some understanding of what we need to improve on by the time regular season arrives. Last night's win versus Cardinal Gibbons was, in my opinion, a true glimpse into what Heritage is going to be all about this upcoming season. The defense was superb. The scary part is, since beginning Preseason conditioning, we have only been able to get into the gym about four times these last few weeks. I can only imagine what things will be like once we are able to go to work everyday of the week! We will continue to get better as the days roll on, and I love every minute of it. A match-up with Nova High School awaits us this week, Thursday at 7:15pm. See you there! :)-Coach K

The College Rush
I do have to say that my second year as a head coach has been an easier time so far. I know what to expect and how and when to get things accomplished. But I really don't think anything can truly prepare me for the two week period of college recruiting that hits our campus every year. I am in no way tagging this contact period with any sort of negative connotation. It's a fun and exciting time for both me and my players. I am extremely grateful and proud that our girls get the recognition and exposure that they do, and I am happy to have welcomed many great coaches and programs onto American Hertiage's 40+ acre campus these last couple of weeks.I enjoyed spending time with a number of coaches and getting to know a little bit about them and their respective programs. Some schools that dropped in during the college rush: University of Georgia, University of Virginia, Auburn University, University of Central Florida, University of Miami, University of Maryland, Louisville University, University of Florida, University of South Florida, Florida International University, Memphis University, and Georgia Tech, and Villanova. Big thanks to the many visits! -Coach K

Conditioning w/ the Lady Patriots
Conditioning for many of the senior high players has been going strong now for about a little over a month. The commitment and intensity of the players shows me that great things are yet to come once we get the teams into the gym on a daily basis. One important factor that I have taken notice of is the chemistry the team possesses and exhibits on the field and in the weightroom. The attitudes with each other, as well with their coaches, has proven to me that this year's team will rise above and beyond their expectations. The chemistry has also leaked onto the court during Fall league, as well. I cannot wait to work with this talented and motivated group of young ladies. Pictures of conditioning and all the sweat and hard work from the Lady Patriots are soon to come! Stay tuned...-Coach K

Teague Verbally Commits
I am extremely excited and happy to say that 6'3 Senior Brandi Teague has given her verbal commitment to play next year for the Villanova Wildcats! Brandi is the 10th player from the Lady Patriots' program to earn a college scholarship to play at the next level, the 5th at the Division I level. I have known Brandi for three years now and have seen this young lady grown tremendously, emotionally and physically. I think she will be a wonderful fit into Coach Perretta's program due to her ability and skill to play both inside and out. A three-year starter for the team, Brandi will help lead us to another great season and hopefully another long post-season run come February! I am proud to have coached her the last couple of seasons and look forward to a memorable senior campaign from an awesome kid and player. Congratulations, Slim! :)-Coach K

Moncrief Honored at Miami Herald Breakfast
With plenty of accolades already collected as an established athlete in the county, Raigyne Moncrief added Miami Herald Female Athlete of the Year to her list in May of 2011. The sophomore guard helped lead the American Heritage Lady Patriots to a Regional Semifinal appearance in the 3A State Playoffs and also helped lead the American Heritage girls track team to back-to-back 3A state championships, winning the individual state title in the triple jump and state runner-up in the long jump event. This young lady is a phenomenal athlete, but even more importantly, a better student and kid. We are proud of all of her accomplishments this season and look forward to what she can do in the future! Congrats, Ray!
